Free Wi-Fi is widely available throughout the city
Nearly all hotels offer free Wi-Fi. International hotels (Shangri-La, Marriott, etc.) typically have faster, more reliable connections. Ask the front desk for the network name and password.
Starbucks, McDonald's, and most cafes offer free Wi-Fi. Look for signs saying "免费WiFi" (miǎn fèi WiFi = free Wi-Fi). You may need a Chinese phone number to receive an SMS verification code.
Shenzhen Metro stations have free Wi-Fi (look for "SZMetro_Free"). Many shopping malls, parks, and airports also offer free Wi-Fi. Speeds vary and may require registration.
